When I was testing the game, I realized that the inventory UI is really outdated. Many features have been changed since the UI was created. Because of this, I decided to take this week to change up the inventory UI.
Initially the game has attribute that the player can add after every level. However, after much play-testing, I felt that the attributes does not add much to the game and to a certain extent hides the combat system. I then replaced them with HitRate, Evade and Defence instead.
I didn’t update the UI and just remove the attributes from the status window. Although it looks empty, I decided to just leave it be.
As the direction of game continue to change, I start to find Talent having the same problem as Attribute, so I just removed them as well. With the removal of Talent, the Status Window now contains a lot of empty space.
Because of this, I set out to change the UI to something more functional. Due to the nature of the game, I find myself opening the inventory a lot. I would like to be able to keep the inventory window open. So here is the new UI
The UI also comes with a sort functionality which is something I always wanted. Not perfect yet, but is functional for now.
Other than changing the UI, some additional QOL options were added, the key one being the option to auto-sort inventory.
Alright, that’s all for this week. Thanks for reading :)
